Casey Kringlen is the Artistic Director of Queer Classics, a Los Angeles based company dedicated to reimagining classic stories through a queer lens. This year he conceived and directed a 90-minute trans version of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew in which the the lead characters explored their expression of gender. Both Shrew and last year's gay The Importance of Being Earnest enjoyed sold out runs and won the Hollywood Fringe's Producer's Encore Award. Other recent credits include assisting director Jessica Kubzansky on Sheila Callaghan's new play Everything You Touch at The Boston Court Performing Arts Center. In 2014 he conceived and directed an "Equal Love" version of Romeo and Juliet. That production workshopped in New Orleans and had its LA premiere at The Well in Downtown LA, produced by Jeffery Brooks' Inner Circle Theatre. Casey directed LA's first production of Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol at six01 Studios in 2013. He is also a photographer, choreographer and performance art creator and he is particularly proud of The Hereafter, a movement piece exploring death, burial rites, and earthly release as seen at The Satellite and Hollywood Fringe. www.caseykringlen.com
