Lauren Baba is a violinist, violist, composer, and arranger living in Los Angeles, California. She performs a wide variety of music from original improvisatory music, to jazz, classical, folk, and avant-garde. Lauren has performed with numerous jazz, orchestral, and chamber ensembles, as well as appeared on various pop and world music albums, film scores and commercial soundtracks. She studied improvised music and jazz composition at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo and then at CalArts in Los Angeles. Lauren also received the 2012 ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Award for her original big band composition "144."
