Patrick Blackwell studied at the Juilliard School on a full scholarship and then he went on to do some pretty cool young artists programs such as Merola, Western Opera Theater, Houston Opera Studio, Opera Music Theater International and The Aspen Opera Theater Center. He truly enjoys performing for others and contributing to great music making. Having travelled to such places as Moscow, Russia, Sydney, Austrailia ( where he'll debut next fall at the Sydney Opera House singing Porgy in the Gershwin's Porgy and Bess) Pyongyang, North Korea and Quito, Ecuador, Mr. Blackwell has meet some pretty unique audiences performing everything from Opera to African-American Spirituals. He made his Los Angeles Opera debut in the 2014 season singing Lt. Ratcliffe in Bennjamin Britten's Billy Budd. He has since returned as cover and featured roles sung at LA Opera, namely, covering Duke Bluebeard in Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle and singing Opera Box Ghost in John Corligliano's Ghosts of Versailles. He will next sing the role of Commissioner in Puccini's Madama Butterfly also at Los Angeles Opera. He is proud to join The Industry in this Production of HOPSCOTCH.
