Paul Nabil Matthis is a half-Syrian composer, vocalist and writer living in Los Angeles. He received his M.F.A. in music composition and vocal performance from CalArts in 2013. He was born the year Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five released "The Message," down the road from the prison where Lead Belly first met Alan Lomax. His award-winning works for dance, theater, and film have received international acclaim. He currently sings and writes songs for his band, Madapple, and is putting the finishing touches on his first speculative fiction novel. In his spare time, he beatboxes on YouTube and drinks far too much pu-erh.
